    LPA (Local Planning Authority)

Council body responsible for planning decisions in its area.

    Definition

LPAs prepare local plans and decide planning applications. There are about 320 LPAs in England, plus the Mayor of London and national parks. Each LPA publishes refusal patterns and policy maps that govern site feasibility.
